Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels & Jadeite Sale – April 6th, 2015

The first Magnificent Jewels sale of the season proved to be less than stellar as Sotheby’s Hong Kong Magnificent Jewels & Jadeite sale achieved a total of $37.5 million – just over a third of the sale’s $99 million estimate. The disappointing results echo the current economic state of the world and its effect on wealthy buyers.


11.21-carat Kashmir sapphire and diamond ring (est. $1.5 – 1.9m) sold for $2.1m.

On April 6th, Sotheby’s will host its Magnificent Jewels & Jadeite sale packed with impressive colored and colorless diamonds, exceptional jadeite, rubies of the finest quality, and strands of natural pearls. With approximately 320 lots, the sale is estimated to achieve in excess of $99 million.

Fancy intense purple-pink diamond weighing 4.01 carats and a fancy intense purplish-pink diamond weighing 3.72 carats, mounted in 18 karat white and pink gold. Est. $6m to $ 7m. Not Sold.

Pair of ruby and diamond earrings by Bulgari with 7.80 and 7.10-carat unheated Burmese Mogok rubies. est. $4.5 – 5m. Not Sold.
